Please consult the webpage of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic to inquire about visa issues. Public transport
Public transport in Prague is coordinated by Prague Public Transport Company (Dopravní podnik hlavního města Prahy). It consists of buses, metro, trams, the Petřín funicular and ferries on few places of the Vltava river. Tickets with four different periods of validity are available:

  • 30 minutes – 24 CZK
  • 90 minutes – 32 CZK
  • 24 hours – 110 CZK
  • 72 hours – 310 CZK

All tickets are transfer tickets, it means that you are allowed to change between different kinds of transport (bus, metro, tram, …). A ticket must be validated in one of the orange validators (at the entrance to the metro, on the tram or bus) when entering the first mean of transport. You can buy tickets in ticket machines at metro stations, public transport information centres, most tobacconists, some supermarkets, at the airport or at railway stations etc., see here for more information. The 90 minutes ticket can also be bought from the bus drivers for a price of 40 CZK (cash payment is required and only a limitted change is given). Be aware that also a ticket bought from the driver must be validated in the orange validator!

The public transport stops closest to the venue are

  • bus stop Winston Churchill Square (náměstí Winstona Churchilla): bus number 135;
  • tram stop Husinecká: trams number 5, 9, 26.

Still within a walking distance (10–15 minutes) there are also two metro stations:

  • Main Railway Station (Hlavní nádraží): metro line C (red);
  • Náměstí Republiky: metro line B – take the exit called Masaryk Railway Station (Masarykovo nádraží).

The public transport is quite reliable and safe – safe to the extent as any Capital City may be, but certainly not safer. Especially, beware of pickpockets! They are in action in the most frequented places as the Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí), the Main Railway Station (Hlavní nádraží) and on metro stations and metro trains in the city centre. Also, some tram lines have a bad reputation – No. 22 going through the centre. Always try not to be alone when using trams at late night.

Coming by air
The code of Praha – Ruzyně international airport is PRG. There are two terminals at the airport (with only about 5 minutes walking distance between them) that deal with public international flights. All flights from Schengen countries arrive at Terminal 2 and all other flights arrive at Terminal 1.

The way from the airport to the conference venue:

  • Airport Taxi. Official yellow AAA Radiotaxi and 1.1.1. RadioCAB taxi stands are located in front of the airport arriving halls of both terminals. Travel time: 20 – 30 minutes, depending on the traffic conditions. Price to the venue area: about 500 – 600 CZK;
  • Airport Express (AE) bus to the Main Railway Station (Hlavní nádraží) stop. From there, the venue is in the walking distance. During the day, the Airport Express leaves the airport every 30 minutes. Travel time: 35 – 45 minutes to the Main Railway Station. Price: 60 CZK, the tickets are purchased directly from the driver. Standard public transport tickets are not valid there!
  • Public transport to the City Centre. There are two reasonable, more or less equally time consuming options.

o    Bus number 119 from the airport to Nádraží Veleslavín, metro line A station (the final stop of the bus, the station of the metro line A). Then take metro line A (green) to station Muzeum (on the upper part of the Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí)). From there, it is either possible to walk to the venue (the walking time is about 15 minutes) or to change to metro line C (red) and take its direction Letňany for just one stop to the Main Railway Station (Hlavní nádraží) station. From there, the venue is within even shorter walking distance. During rush hours, bus 119 leaves the airport every 7–8 minutes, the trains of both both A and C metro lines operate every 1.5–3 minutes.

o    Bus number 100 from the airport to Zličín, metro line B station (the final stop of the bus, the first station of the metro line B). Then take metro line B (yellow) to station Náměstí Republiky and take the exit called Masaryk Railway Station (Masarykovo nádraží). When going from the airport, it is the exit in the direction of the train. From there, the venue is within a walking distance (less than 15 minutes). During rush hours, bus 100 leaves the airport every 15 minutes, the trains of B metro line operate every 2–3 minutes.

Travel time: about 45 minutes to the Main Railway Station (Hlavní nádraží) or Náměstí Republiky metro stations with considerably lower variability than both taxi and AE. Price: 32 CZK (90 minutes ticket), 24 hours or 72 hours ticket can be used as well.

Coming by train
All international trains arrive at Praha hlavní nádraží (Prague Main Railway Station). Trains from direction Dresden also stop at Praha Holešovice railway station.

  • From the Main Railway Station, the venue is within a walking distance.
  • From Praha Holešovice railway station, take metro line C (red), direction Háje for three stops to Main Railway Station (Hlavní nádraží). From there, the venue is within a walking distance.
